It is a legal requirement for all learner drivers to complete your driving theory test successfully before you become eligible to undertake your practical driving test.
2 Part Theory Test
The driving theory test is broken into 2 parts – The multiple-choice part and the hazard perception part – both parts must be successfully completed in order to gain a pass.
The multiple choice portion of the test presents a number of questions which have multiple choice answers. The questions have been designed to test your basic driving knowledge & to pass this part of the test you must answer at least 43 of the 50 questions correctly within 57 minutes.
The hazard perception part of the test presents videos of developing hazards which you must identify and react to. The earlier you spot the hazard the more points you will be awarded (to a maximum of 5 points). This part of the test will include 14 video clips showing 15 developing hazards and to pass this you must accrue a total of at least 44 out of a possible 75 points to pass.
Official Certificate
Once you have passed this test you will be given an official theory test certificate and then have 2 years to successfully complete your practical driving test. Once both of these stages have been completed you will then be a fully qualified driver!!
